eob-toolkitBullying is a growing problem in our country. More damaging than youth conflict—bullying can be both physically and emotionally traumatic for the youth involved, as well as those who see it occur. Bullying affects children starting in preschool and can last beyond high school. It can take the form of physical abuse, or hurt victims through rumors and exclusion. But—there’s good news. Bullying can be stopped and the first step is understanding it.

PromotePrevent is part of Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC)—a global nonprofit organization  that designs, delivers and evaluates programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic development. EDC supported nearly 300 communities who were awarded the federally funded Safe Schools/Healthy Students (SS/HS) grant—a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) initiative that helps promote safe and healthy schools and communities.

SS/HS grantees served as models of effective bullying prevention efforts, and the lessons learned—along with the latest developments in bullying research—form the basis for the PromotePrevent Preventing bullying website.

The site is organized into the following sections:

What is Bullying?
School and Community Prevention and Intervention
Cyberbullying
Preventing Bullying In Early Childhood
Real Stories
Resources

You may also download the Eyes on Bullying Toolkit, designed especially for parents, caregivers, educators, and healthcare providers who work with children and youth in homes, early childhood programs, schools (K-12), afterschool and youth programs, camps, and healthcare settings. The Toolkit features insights, strategies, skills-building activities, and resources.
