We Are in This Together

Children's Health Council

Our thoughts are with you and your families during this unprecedented time. We are all doing our best to slow down and care for one another while we navigate uncharted territory with patience, kindness and grace.

CHC remains committed to the children, teens and young adults with learning and mental health challenges throughout the Bay Area, today and always. Our nearly 70-year history provides us with the solid foundation to continue to provide services and support without interruption. It is what we have always done, and what we will always do.

As the COVID-19 crisis emerged, CHC leadership immediately sprung into action to develop a formidable and flexible plan for our staff and community. Within hours, CHC’s Clinical Services team began providing virtual telehealth services to all of our clients. Our Sand Hill School and Esther B. Clark Schools nimbly transitioned to distance learning. RISE Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is delivering comprehensive DBT therapy to high-risk teens remotely. Parent Support Groups are continuing via Zoom. And in a time of increased angst and uncertainty, our community education programs and robust online resource library continue to be available for free online, 24/7.

Remarked one of our Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, “CHC has consistently been two steps ahead in addressing the [COVID-19] situation proactively and in a way that is supportive to clinicians, families, ourselves.I know that you really care about all of our well-being and I am so fortunate to be part of the CHC family!”

For those of you who are feeling isolated and estranged as a result of shelter-in-place regulations, please know that you, too, are a part of the CHC family. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn where we are regularly sharing tips for working at home, how to engage and entertain kids and ways to maintain your family’s mental health.

The work we do on behalf of thousands of children and families, especially in times like these, is made possible by you: our friends, donors, volunteers, community partners and foundations. Thank you for continuing on this journey with us to ensure that all children, teens and young adults can reach their full promise and potential. We are deeply grateful.

Be well, and stay healthy.

Sincerely,
Dr. Rosalie Whitlock and everyone at CHC

A Reminder: Widespread reporting and potential misinformation about Coronavirus can be anxiety-provoking for many, but especially for children/teens and those who struggle with anxiety. If you need further consultation about how to best speak with your child or have concerns regarding your child’s anxiety, please contact our Care Team for a free 30-minute consultation with one of our providers.
