National Suicide Prevention Week

September 9, 2019, News

Every year, mental health organizations raise awareness about suicide and suicide prevention throughout the month of September. September 8 – 14, 2019, is National Suicide Prevention Week, a time to promote suicide prevention awareness, to share stories and resources, and to advocate for mental health care.

Resources

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) offers a collection of resources for National Suicide Prevention Week 2019 that you can watch, read, and share on social media.

Each Mind Matters: California’s Mental Health Movement has created a 2019 Suicide Prevention Activation Kit for National Suicide Prevention Week. All suicide prevention materials and resources are available for free download from the new Each Mind Matters Resource Center at EMMResourceCenter.org.

We can all play a part in suicide prevention.  Just talking about it can be the first important step in understanding where someone is with their mental health, and helping them get support or treatment if needed. See “How to Start (and Continue!) a Conversation About Mental Health: A #RealConvo Guide from AFSP.”
