Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you see?

We serve clients ages 18-25. The Catherine T. Harvey Center for Clinical Services also sees individuals under age 18.

What type of treatment can I expect?

CHC specializes in providing short-term, evidence-based treatment to address a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and more. In order to determine the most effective treatment plan, your provider will learn more about what challenges you are currently facing and what you hope to gain from this experience. Together, you and your provider will set realistic goals for your therapy journey. Based on these goals, your care may incorporate interventions from various evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), or others. Treatment will generally last between 12-20 sessions, though the skills and strategies taught throughout should have more immediate and transformative benefits. We hope you already feel a sense of hope knowing your provider will be your trusted partner in this process of self-exploration, growth and healing.

Can I meet with my therapist via telehealth during school breaks?

You may join telehealth sessions from anywhere within the state of California! However, if you are out of the state or country, licensure regulations do not permit us to provide clinical services to you. Anyone joining the teletherapy session must be located within the state of California at the time of the appointment.

If you plan to be out of state for upcoming school breaks, please talk to your therapist to plan for a break in therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

CHC is considered an out-of-network provider by all insurance plans for outpatient services. CHC is committed to helping you work with your insurance provider and provides a superbill on a monthly basis. Your Client Billing Team is happy to answer questions and provide you with paperwork needed to request reimbursement. Please contact us at billing@chconline.org. CHC never wants finances to be a barrier to accessing the high-quality care you deserve. While our office does not have formal contracts with private health insurance companies and our services are self-pay, we offer a generous financial assistance program and encourage individuals to apply via our two-page application.

We also provide our most commonly used billing codes in case you want to reach out to your insurance provider to see what they will reimburse prior to starting services.

Do you offer financial assistance?

At CHC, it is very important to us that you receive access to the high-quality care you deserve. If you are worried about costs, please consider applying for financial assistance. We are grateful to many generous donors who support CHC, and we are proud to pass that support on to you.

To apply for financial assistance, the person responsible for paying for your services must complete a simple two-page application. Your Care Coordinator will then process your application and inform you how much assistance CHC can provide. Your Care Coordinator can help you with the application process at any time – whether you’re waiting for your first appointment, or had a change in your financial situation, or are adding/changing services. We are here for you.

From the moment I contacted CHC and in every interaction since, I felt the genuine care, concern, and dedication of each and every person associated with your organization.
