Teen Wellness Committee Membership

TWC members are 9-12th grade students from various public and independent schools in the Bay Area.

Our mission:

  • Create an educational forum for teen voice and action, including creating opportunities for teens to talk with teens from different high schools about their thoughts and experiences related to mental health.
  • Empower teens to create positive change in their schools and communities related to mental health.
  • Give youth voice and teen input regarding CHC’s teen initiative ideas in order to better target our programming to teens’ needs.

What we do:

During each school year, TWC students create, plan and launch a wellness project designed to address an important issue related to teen mental health. Students also have opportunities to engage in a range of community events and learn about what else is being done locally in support of wellness. Members may expand their network with peers from other mental health groups, participate in collaboration projects with students from neighboring youth advisory boards, attend special conferences and events, or participate on student panels. In addition to participating in membership activities for the year, students bring information, resources and ideas back to their own schools and communities to advocate for a healthier world for ourselves and all teens.

Membership for 2019-2020 includes:

  • Attending bi-monthly meetings
  • Participating in and leading discussions
  • Attending/participating in at least 1 community event – student panel, mental health conference, EdRev Expo
  • Contributing to the wellness project
  • Serving as your school’s peer liaison
