crisistextlineCrisis Text Line is a free 24/7 text line staffed by dedicated, trained volunteers. It is  available to help anyone with any type of crisis.

How it Works

  1. Text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the USA, anytime.
  2. A live, trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds quickly.
  3. The volunteer Crisis Counselor will help you move from a hot moment to a cool moment

You can text about any issue that is a crisis to you:

  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Self-harm
  • Depression
  • Stress/Anxiety
  • Grief
  • Eating Disorders
  • Physical Abuse
  • Emotional Abuse
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Isolation/Loneliness
  • Relationship Issues
  • Bullying

Contacting Crisis Text Line

Text HOME to 741741. If you text in, you’ll receive an automated text asking you what your crisis is. Within minutes, a live trained crisis counselor will answer your text. They will help you out of your moment of crisis and work with you to create a plan to continue to feel better.

Facebook Messenger. Using the “Send Message” at facebook.com/crisistextline button will connect you to a live Crisis Counselor.

Kik. If you indicate you are in crisis to select Kik bots, you may be pointed to Crisis Text Line for further help.

Note: Crisis Text Line works on all major US carriers, and most minor regional carriers. However, shortcodes (like 741741) are not allowed on many prepaid plans
