Ravenswood Initiative for More Kids

Ravenswood Initiative for More Kids

Ravenswood StaffThe Ravenswood Initiative for More Kids continues to provide under-resourced kids, families, and teachers in East Palo Alto, east Menlo Park, and Redwood City with professional and culturally relevant educational support and behavioral and mental health services (such as social-emotional wellbeing and learning) to help them grow, develop skills, and reach their full potential.

The program launched in 2014 with three primary partners, and as the program has blossomed so have the partnerships. Below is our growing list of partners and some highlights from the field.

Updates from the Field

Our work with Ravenswood City School District has expanded and our team now provides workshops and consultations to Cesar Chavez, in addition to Belle Haven.

We’ve started working with Girls to Women, a nonprofit providing after school services to girls in East Palo Alto. Our Ravenswood team leads staff trainings and introduced a curriculum around trauma, grief and loss, and self care.

Our team continues to respond to the greatest needs of the community and recently developed a presentation for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula addressing high levels of anxiety due to recent immigration issues and travel bans that are impacting many of our local families.

We recently adapted our proven workshop and consultation model to fit the needs of new partners, including KIPP Excelencia and All Five.

Our team is growing! And now we have two mental health services coordinators who are highly qualified and who both grew up in East Palo Alto and attended K-8 school at Ravenswood City School District as English Language Learners.

We’ve developed and launched a series of five executive functioning coaching for teachers at Eastside College Prep.
